The 1st announcement (14 Apr. 2026)

  --------------------

This is the 1st announcement (PDF) of the LHD Workshop. This workshop will take place from Monday, 15 February to Friday, 19 February, 2027 at Nagoya Noh Theater in Naogya, Japan. The workshop will include a mix of invited lectures, contributed talks, and poster presentations.
The LHD Workshop is organized by National Institute for Fusion Science.

The LHD experimental program was successfully completed on 25 December, 2025, marking the conclusion of approximately 28 years of operation. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all collaborators for their invaluable support, which made it possible to carry out the experiments safely and continuously over this long period. Although the experimental program has come to an end, the research network built around LHD remains an irreplaceable and valuable asset. We hope to continue our collaboration through future research activities in post-LHD projects, as well as through further studies based on LHD experimental data.

With this purpose in mind, we are planning this workshop as an opportunity for interaction and discussion among participants. The workshop will cover a wide range of topics, including summaries of achievements from LHD, progress reports on ongoing research, future research plans based on LHD results, and interdisciplinary developments inspired by knowledge gained from LHD experiments. Broad participation is highly encouraged. In particular, reports on the progress of data analysis from those who conducted experiments in the 25th and 26th experimental campaigns are greatly appreciated.

We also warmly welcome contributions from researchers who have not been directly involved in LHD experiments. In particular, presentations that help identify and clarify key issues for the post-LHD projects would be greatly appreciated. These may include perspectives on the role of LHD from the tokamak community or constructive criticism of LHD experiments. We hope that such contributions will serve as an opportunity for new participants to become involved in this community.

We look forward to welcoming you to Nagoya.
